The Emergency Department (A&E) is open 24 hours a day and can be reached by telephoning 020-634 6200. The Emergency Department is located at the back of the hospital. You can report at the barrier and then drive into the hospital grounds. The entrance is on the right-hand side. Directions to the hospital can be found under Accessibility.
On arriving you report to the receptionist. Please bring a valid ID with you and a valid insurance certificate (health insurance card or policy form). The receptionist will ask you to present these on checking in. If you do not have health insurance, you will have to pay for your treatment straight away, in cash. The amount to be paid will depend on the examinations performed. The receptionist can give you an estimate in advance. Payment can be made in cash or with a bank card or credit card.
We assess the seriousness of your request for help as soon as possible after your arrival. The seriousness of your request determines the urgency with which you receive treatment. It is referred to as triage. Patients brought in by ambulance are always treated first.
Only two people may accompany you to the treatment rooms. To safeguard the privacy of other patients and of those accompanying them, the Emergency Department staff kindly requests you and those accompanying you to stay in your own treatment room. If more than two people are accompanying you, they may wait in the waiting room.
In some cases you may also require follow-up treatment at the Emergency Department, in an outpatient clinic or at your GP’s surgery. The nurse will inform you about this and will make an appointment, if necessary.
